What is Leadership Clarksville? Leadership Clarksville

PURPOSE:
To identify those in our community who are most likely to use their leadership knowledge, skills and abilities for the long-term benefit of the Clarksville-Montgomery County community. We emphasize that Leadership Clarksville is not designed to solve problems, but to inform its participants on issues and opportunities that affect our lives.

PROGRAM:
The Leadership Clarksville program is designed to identify and introduce to each other the recognized and future leaders of the area and to give them an intense look at the community, its strengths and weaknesses.

Those selected will participate in a series of seminars, lectures, group discussions, field trips and retreats addressing such issues as Clarksville area government, education, the military, criminal justice, human services, health care, transportation, race relations and quality of life. The program will require approximately one workday per month from its beginning in September through graduation in May.

The goal of Leadership Clarksville is to explore with willing and involved citizens in a non-partisan manner, the characteristics that determine the desirability of Clarksville-Montgomery county as a place to live, work and play so that dynamic but orderly future growth will be assured.

PARTICIPANTS:
Anyone who has demonstrated leadership in civic, religious, community or professional endeavors is encouraged to become involved in Leadership Clarksville.

The participants will be those with an awareness of community issues and a commitment to successful community leadership. They will represent a cross-section of leaders form business, labor, the military, human service organizations, education, church, neighborhood and civic groups from all walks of life.

A mixture of geographic neighborhoods is a key factor in determining those selected to participate each year. Leadership Clarksville seeks to represent all sectors of the greater Clarksville area.

HOW PARTICIPANTS ARE SELECTED:
Leadership Clarksville will distribute nomination and application forms each spring for its annual class. The Selection Committee will choose participants from these applications. Selection committee members will include graduates of previous programs. Alumni also will be invited to assist in developing and implementing new Leadership Clarksville programs each year.

BENEFITS:
Leadership Clarksville provides a multi-dimensional look at our community. During the program, participants will become acquainted with each other and will establish bonds and perspectives, which will enhance their community leadership effectiveness.

Leadership Clarksville offers a base of information and experience upon which participants can expand their leadership skills and heighten their awareness of community problems and opportunities.

Leadership Clarksville offers the opportunity to become involved in the community to help strengthen and promote a better understanding of its needs.

Active alumni lists will be furnished to various civic, service and governmental organizations so those graduates may have better opportunities to utilize their leadership skills and knowledge acquired through this program.

COST:
Tuition for the year is $700. The tuition covers meals, materials and transportation around the community to program sites. Limited financial assistance is available to those persons who qualify.

One of Leadership Clarksville's greatest contributions to this community is the very people who graduate from the program! Through leadership-driven experiences delivered in an enticing knowledge-based format, Leadership Clarksville graduates leave with a renewed dedication and commitment to the betterment of Clarksville and the surrounding community.

Leadership Clarksville is a private, non-profit organization governed by a 26 member Board of Trustees and Executive Committee. Totally funded by private support and donations, Leadership Clarksville's alumni have secured individual and corporate sponsorships to complement the program budget. These donations, in addition to program tuition, help cover the cost of meals, meeting space, entertainment and transportation.
